I've been trained to imagine a life of "just
leisure" after retirement
There is all this hype about crossing the finish line. Then he instantly settled into an epic retirement life filled with excitement, money, happiness, romance and adventure.
Our society has convinced us that if we hid our savings in our 401k our entire careers as responsible human beings, we would suddenly experience life after retirement that looks like the following Google Image results:
Google search for life after retirement
I did a google image search for "retirement", and these are the results. Does it sound authentic to you? Source: Google
What is your life really like after retirement?
Not that you can't have the perfect, fantastic retirement lifestyle... you totally can.
It just takes a little work. As in being challenged, growing, and of course, it is first finding clarity about your ideal post-retirement life.
Instead of showing you fake pictures of sad, exhausted seniors, I want you to imagine your reality. Look at these stats:
Studies have shown that the most vulnerable times in your
life are the first year after birth and the first 12 months after retirement.
One in seven baby boomers receives treatment for depression,
a higher rate among other generations of American adults (Gallup).
Divorce among baby boomers is on the rise. The number of
divorces among this age demographic has doubled since the 1990s (Pew Research
Center).

Why isn't anyone talking about this?
It is time to change these terrifying statistics about the elderly.
Avoid being one of these ageing stats about Alzheimer's, seniors' divorce, nursing homes, and the depression that pervades life after retirement.
I've done extensive research on "retirement
advice", and about 95% of the information currently available is about
financial planning advice.
There are critical lifestyle planning steps you can take to
achieve your ideal post-retirement life over the next few quarters.
A common habit among the most successful people is their
daily routine, their morning routine. There is excellent advice from people
like Mel Robbins, Tony Robbins, Tim Ferriss, and Chase Jarvis. Look at this:
Mel Robbins: Don't sleep next to your phone. Let your mind wander while you brush your teeth and ask yourself two things you can do that day to make progress. Write these things on a poster and ensure you get them done throughout the day. Give yourself 30 minutes before 7:30 am. M. To focus on activities for you and you alone.
Tony Robbins: Start with breathing exercises—an expression
of gratitude. Visualize the connection in your body and then succeed. Practice.
Tim Ferriss - Meditate for 20 minutes. Drink strong tea. Daily
for 10 minutes. Eat a small breakfast and then exercise.
Chase Jarvis: Make sure you get enough sleep, like eight
hours. Eat a healthy breakfast and exercise. Drinking water. Contemplation.
Practice and visualize gratitude. @smarttechpros @techgeeksblogger
